How We Are Green

Printing on 100 percent post consumer waste paper is only the beginning of being a “green” company. As a small business we realized that it wouldn’t take much to reduce our carbon footprint substantially. While we understand that our contribution is small on the global scale, we hope that we can be a model for other businesses, big and small, which would truly implement change!

recycling is verysupercool! GREEN CONSCIOUS: To us, the first step of being green means being aware of how much you consume, what you consume, and how you deal with your waste. We do our best to keep our footprint very minimal by driving as little as possible, buying quality, natural and fair trade products, and recycling everything we possibly can, from our clothes to our compact disks.

carbonfreelogo.jpg CARBON OFFSETTING: Thanks to Carbonfund.org we are now a Carbon Free business! Carbonfund.org supports three types of carbon offset projects: renewable energy, energy efficiency and reforestation. For our offsets we chose to invest in renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, geothermal and biomass. It’s the only way we will ever to be able to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. So far in 2008 we have offset 70 metro tons, yeah!

mohawk.jpgnewleaflogo.jpg 100% POST CONSUMER WASTE: Since the very first press run, we have used 100 percent post consumer waste recycled paper for both our greeting cards and envelopes. See our eco-audit for details on how much paper we’ve used and what valuable resources we’ve saved.

coopamericalogo.jpg COMMUNITY: We’ve been members of Co-op America since our company launched in November 2005. Co-op America, a national nonprofit consumer organization, promotes environmental sustainability, social justice, and economic justice.

trees.jpg PLANTING TREES: As members of Trees for the Future we are planting of 2000 trees in 2008! We like to think of it as our Verysupercool forest. It’s a great feeling to know that the trees we plant are not only cleaning the world’s atmosphere, but they are preserving the land, forest, and water, and helping families to save their homes and way of life. A big thanks to Dave and Grace Deppner for starting Treesftf.org. To date they have planted more than 50,000,000 trees!

greendimeslogo.jpg REDUCING JUNKMAIL: Our membership with GreenDimes.com gets us off and keeps us off junk mail lists. And, they plant trees for you too! Thank you Green Dimes!

greendisklogo.jpg RECYCLING TECHNOTRASH: We purchased a Technotrash Can from GreenDisk.com for our office. Now we have a easy and secure way to destroy our old data, recover reusable components, and recycle all of our accumulated office waste, like CDs, diskettes, DVDs, ink cartridges, cell phones, videotapes, pagers, PDAs, and more! Yeah!

greenchoicelogo.jpg RENEWABLE ENERGY: We are members of Austin Energy’s GreenChoice program. By the end of 2008, about 11 percent of all power sold by Austin Energy will come from huge wind turbines located in West Texas. We’re proud to be a part the nation’s most successful utility-sponsored green power program!

capspeclogo.jpg SUPPORTING THE LOCAL ECONOMY: And finally, we print our cards right here in Austin, Texas (the live music capital of the world!) which cuts down on the shipping and fuel costs, and supports our local economy.

All these actions make up our Triple Bottom Line
People (& their Dogs), Planet, and Profit
