Breed: English Springer Spaniel
Age (at time of photo session):
Story: (a work in progress)I met Martini at a local “Yappy Hour” here in Austin at the Irie Bean Coffee Bar. When I met her, she was dressed in a very special pirate outfit. (It was one of many dog costume parties going on around Halloween.) One of Martini’s Moms told me that her mom was getting tired of waiting for grandchildren and decided to buy the Halloween outfit for Martini, her new grand child. They had just adopted her a few weeks earlier, so it was a fairly new relationship for everyone.Martini was adopted through English Springer Rescue.Martini was rescued in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. She’s been in foster care for many months and was just recently adopted into her new loving forever family. There are so many more animal stories that came from the Katrina disaster. You can read more about them by going to www.katrinadogrescue.com
In addition to being a Katrina survivor, Martini is also a cancer survivor. She has part of her lower jaw missing due to some cancer that has since been removed. She can’t help but make a mess when she eats and drinks as there is tiny gap in the front of her jaw.Below you see her doing a very relaxed and lazy high five. She was probably the most relaxed of any dog I have every photographed. We kept having to prop her up and try to keep her from doing the splits!
